Since diet pills that raise your metabolism are often discovered to be unsafe (after millions of people have been using them for several years, of course), what can we do to burn more fat without chemistry?
Exercise, of course.
While aerobic exercise is great for burning off fat while you’re exercising, lifting weights will actually allow you to burn more fat while you’re sitting around. This isn’t magic – it just means that firm, well-used muscles require more fuel to maintain than the flabby, lazy muscles that most office-workers lug around on their arms, thighs and butt.
To super-charge a weight loss program, combine your new sugarless diet with a simple strength training regiment. You don’t need to buy a gym membership, and you don’t have to go crazy and buy any fancy home gym equipment. You can increase your muscle mass and improve your metabolism by lifting inexpensive dumbbells from K-Mart, or even dig through your pantry and find some tin cans. Some people choose to make beanbag weights, which are great for older people because they’re easy to hang on to.
Will exercise make up for the damage that sugar does to your body? No. But it will help it burn off faster, and it will help you get rid of the extra fat that builds up when you eat the “normal” American diet and sit on your rear all day at work. But the best combination is still a sugar-free diet along with regular exercise.
